Kim Petras’s Collina Strada Met Gala Look Is One for the Horse Girls

Don’t have a horse, man!

Tonight, as Kim Petras arrived on the Met Gala red carpet for the first time, she made the case for the horse girl. Yes, you heard that right. Petras arrived in a Collina Strada dress starring a 3D horse head bustier (The Godfather eat your heart out) and a dramatic, panniered skirt featuring a print from the brand’s resort 2020 collection cheekily titled “Sistine Tomato.”

“So we’re gonna talk horse girl stuff?” says Hillary Taymour, the design mastermind behind Collina Strada, when we connect a few hours before the red carpet unrolls. In her youth, Taymour admits she was an equestrian fanatic until another interest took hold in her late teens. “Okay, yes, I was a horse girl in a past life,” she says, before breaking out into a guilty laugh, “and now I guess I’m a fashion girl?”

Taymour and Petras first met through their mutual friend and the founder of cult restaurant Mission Chinese, Danny Bowien. “I just wanted to work with a chill, easy-going person, and that's exactly who Kim is,” says Taymour. “She’s extremely talented, her new album is amazing, and I’m super happy to be working with her, for sure.” This instant chemistry led to them furiously texting about just how to make their dream into a reality.
