The Spencer star’s rebellious take on the classic French house continues to impress.
Kristen Stewart Brings Chanel's Short Shorts to the Red Carpet
In the eight years that Kristen Stewart has been a Chanel ambassador, the Spencer star has mastered wearing the brand her way. As one of the most revered French houses, Chanel is known for prim and classic ensembles, but Stewart and her stylist Tara Swennen don’t do demure. The actress’ red carpet looks adhere to the same edgy sensibility as her off-duty wardrobe, so anything she packed for her trip to Venice Film Festival was destined to get people talking. Today when she breezed in via water taxi for her photocall with the director Pablo Larraín, Stewart didn’t disappoint.
As the sole guest at Chanel’s Métiers d’Art Paris-Château des Dames show in December, Stewart had first dibs on the entire collection. Dressed in a Chanel jumpsuit with legs cut so high they resembled mind hot pants, Stewart continued her habit of selecting the most daring pieces from Virginie Viard’s runway. The black tweed jumpsuit with metallic detailing at the pockets and oversized double-c buttons was precisely the kind of statement fashion she gravitates towards. With her newly dyed strawberry blonde locks and a golden Coco Crush ring completing the look, Stewart was all smiles when she stepped onto the stage.
Later in the day, Stewart changed into another risk-taking look, arriving at Spencer’s premiere in a seafoam green slip and lacy cropped pants from Chanel Haute Couture. The pastel boudoir moment was unexpected, but it’s hard to top those shorts. A welcome throwback to the extreme silhouettes of now-classic Chanel collections like spring/summer 1994 and spring/summer 2007, Stewart’s jumpsuit was one of the most impactful outfits from the ceremony thus far.
