Liza Koshy Swears By This Double-Sided Pencil for ‘Incredible’ Brows
Actress, comedian and host Liza Koshy wants to tell you a story—about her eyebrows. “I have had a journey,” she begins. “Every month is a new destination. They are cousins, then they are sisters, then they don't even know each other. It's wild,” she says with a laugh. “If I let them grow out, it's a full, fuzzy forehead. So, thanks, Dad. I have had a definite journey.”
It's a relatable journey, though. While thick, natural-looking soap brows are what women seem to want right now, most of us have had to work diligently to achieve the look. That's why Koshy wanted to create a brow product for the clean beauty line, One of One by C'est Moi, that defines, shapes and adds fullness to your eyebrows. Enter Browista brow perfecting duo.
“It's been a dream of mine for so long,” she says over Zoom. She and her sister named each of the five shades ("I personally use medium macchiato and dark espresso") which blend seamlessly to create fine hairs to mimic your own. “It's really incredible,” she says of the 2-in-1 wax and pencil. “My eyebrows are such a special part of my face and such a crucial part of expression.”

So what else does the 20-something swear by? For Glamour's latest round of Big Beauty Questions, she breaks down her ultimate beauty and skincare must-haves, from sunscreen to leave-in conditioners.
What's one beauty trend you’re obsessed with right now?
It was freckles for a second since I just have one freckle on my nose and I was proud to bring it some company. What I would do is take our Think Twice pencil, called Auburn’n For You in matte taupe/metallic auburn and give myself freckles, because it’s not just for your eyes. Oh, and I also love a good, energizing face mist, like this Go Out Treatment Mist spray, that I spritz on in the morning.

To wear sunscreen! I use C’est Moi’s Sunshine sunscreen in an orange and yellow bottle. And their stick as well. It’s not tacky, it’s completely clear. And face massaging! I’ve been doing it on my way to work, and there’s a noticeable difference. I will cover my face in oil and then take my right hand and put it over the left side of my face and just pull upwards. Cause I wake up at 5 a.m. for work now and that helps de-puffs my eyes. I just use my fingers. It’s like when an esthetician goes in with their fingers and massage your eyebrows out. So I’ll do that in the morning now as part of my routine.

That you shouldn’t use your fingers to apply makeup or massage your face. As long as you wash your hands before you touch your face, you’re fine!
Fill in the blank: I love my hair…
Natural, which is frizzy, fuzzy-wuzzy. That’s how I would describe it. I have a lot of baby hairs that like to act real grown, and are just everywhere. But I love shaping them and designing them on my forehead and leaning into the fact that I have a crazy, wild hairline.
What hair products do you swear by to control your frizz, when you want to?
I love Pattern Beauty from Tracee Ellis Ross. She makes a great leave-in conditioner. And Unite Boing Curl Leave-In Conditioner that you spray into your hair and it will just spring up and coil. It’s awesome.

$28UniteWhat city or country gives you the greatest beauty inspiration?
Paris, but also because that’s the last place I saw outside of the states before the pandemic. I left Paris and three days later they shut down. Wild. But it’s just such a creative, polished, relaxed city. It’s just exciting there. I cried when I saw the Eiffel Tower for the first time.
What are three products you swear by and why?
Biossance Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil. So good and it's super moisturizing. And Glossay by C’est Moi is a really good lip balm. I use it on set all the time because it’s totally smooth and not sticky or tacky. And Dr. Bronner's has this 4-in-1 soap, which is fantastic for shampooing, for face washing, for body washing, and it’s an all-natural brand. I use the lavender scent. They also make hand soaps and lotions, and I love all their products.

None! I have none right now. But if I had to go with one, I think I’d go with a French manicure.
What is your go-to getting ready music?
I’ve been listening to Londrelle. He’s been going at it for so long. And this song, “Good Morning” by Alex Aiono. Really great musician. And then Leon Bridges is my final answer. I love his song, “If It Feels Good.”
How long do you spend getting ready if you don’t have to be on camera?
I’ve crammed my beauty and hair routine into about 30 minutes. So if I’m about to go on a date, I would give myself 30 minutes. Not including a shower.
What’s your go-to perfume and why?
I do like Üni Oils, which is a female-owned brand, and it’s supposed to smell different on each person because it is supposed to highlight your pheromones and make you smell sweet or fruity or floral, whatever it is.
Screw, marry or kill with lipstick, mascara or highlighter.
I would screw lipstick, marry mascara and kill highlighter. I have a natural dew, so I’m OK without highlighter. I would definitely marry mascara because I have long eyelashes but they are thin. I really like C’est Moi’s Muse mascara and Saie’s 101 Lengthening and Lifting mascara, which is a clean mascara and it’s really good.

The sun with the face in it. It just feels sunny and it’s almost summer, which I consider to be a happy time.
What’s the last Instragram rabbit hole you went down?
Ally 2 Action, which is [an initiative from] my manager, Courtney Carter, along with a lot of other brilliant minds, including Culture.House co-founder Carri Twigg and Viewpoint PR's Nicki Fioravante. It’s basically a 21 day program to turn your awareness into action, as well as inform yourself of the adversity of being a Black person in America and what we can do as a person of any background to be a better ally. I really appreciate the work being done there.
If you could change one thing about beauty perceptions in Hollywood or on social media, what would it be?
Having a jawline or this whole fetishizing over seeing your jawline. I love seeing people cackle or throw their head back and laugh and their whole neck disappears. It’s beautiful to me. Gen-Z has this weird obsession with jawlines. Enjoy life, eat what you want, and don’t worry if your chin is showing or if you have a chin or not.
Who are the women inspiring you the most right now?
My mom, always, as well as Deborah Kaplan, who is the creator and writer of our show, Liza on Demand. She made this season so special, and created joy on paper for us to create on screen. And I really love Phoebe Robinson from 2 Dope Queens. She’s such a beast and such a well-rounded talent who does it all. And I love the way she uses her platform for Michael B. Jordan.
