The queen of camp chose a more streamlined look—and it’s fabulous.
Lizzo Shakes Up Her Signature Look at the Grammys
Lizzo has consistently been the queen of camp on the red carpet. The singer has no problem taking bold fashion risks on the step and repeat. Her style choices often serve as a reminder that dressing up shouldn’t be taken too seriously. Just take her appearance at the Brit Awards last year, when she wore a chocolate-themed Jeremy Scott gown that was good enough to eat, or, when she wore a Moschino gown printed with the words “siren” all over at the 2019 VMAs, as to announce via a fashion alarm, “I’m here!” At tonight’s Grammy Awards, however, Lizzo hit the carpet in a more streamlined—but still fun—look. And it looks completely fabulous on her.
Clad in Balmain, Lizzo’s Grammys look was a surprising switch-up from her cheeky statement looks. She wore a metallic, mint gown with a sweetheart neckline and tiered hemline. It was a throwback silhouette with more than a dash of ’80s flair, but still felt modern. She accessorized it with Stuart Weitzman heels in the same hue as her dress, as well as show-stopping Bulgari jewels.
Last year, Lizzo took a similarly glamorous approach to the Grammys and did Old Hollywood style in a white Versace number. These two striking Grammys looks in a row prove that sometimes, doing less is the right move. Her campy fashion moments are always fun, of course, but this glamorous style is even more promising.
