The designer, much like TikTok and Gen Z, is on board with baggy denim.
Marc Jacobs Is Saying Goodbye to Skinny Jeans, Too
The times of stuffing ourselves into pin-thin jeans are over. At least, that’s what TikTok and Gen Z are saying. Skinny jeans are out, and baggy jeans are in. We’ve already seen stylish stars get on board with the message. Katie Holmes, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Bella Hadid have all stepped out in roomy, slouchy denim—and now, designer Marc Jacobs is rocking them, too. And, of course, he had to give the trend his own unique stamp.
Jacobs embraced wide-leg denim with a trio of luxurious Balenciaga jeans this week, all posted on his Instagram page and paired with sleek tank tops. His first had a cropped, frayed hem that showcased his staggering Rick Owens platforms underneath. He followed that up with a second pair that skimmed the floor—even hashtagging it, #bigjeanbigqueen—and his third cropped pair were also styled with his favorite platforms.
Leave it to Jacobs to pair the jeans of the moment with sky-high shoes, because with him, it’s always a statement look. It’s also interesting that he followed the little shirt, big pants combo that was trending on TikTok last year. Does Jacobs have a secret burner TikTok account? All signs point to yes.
