Megan Fox Opens Up About Why She Stopped Drinking Alcohol

"I got in a lot of trouble."

Megan Fox recently revealed comments she made on a red carpet in 2009 made her realize she needed to stop drinking.

In a video for Who What Wear, the Jennifer's Body star recalled the night of the 2009 Golden Globes, explaining, “I was sat at a table with Blake Lively and all three Jonas Brothers…At the Golden Globes, they always put those giant bottles of Moët champagne on the table—I went through multiple glasses of that.” The Globes are notorious for encouraging, let's say, a loosening up, being the only major ceremony that includes dinner and, therefore, drinks. Remember when Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston ran out of bubbly, so they borrowed from Bey and Jay-Z's personal stash? Yep, the Globes.

After drinking that night, Fox says she remembers hitting the red carpet and making some not-so-great comments. “Now I don't drink, and this is why: I was belligerent and said a bunch of shit I shouldn't have said on the red carpet after that…I think I got in a lot of trouble for whatever I said on the red carpet at this event. I don't remember why, but I know I did,” she explained.

TMZ has footage from an interview Megan Fox did with Giuliana Rancic at the 2009 Golden Globes. In it, she makes comments about her own insecurities, self-deprecating jabs about her then-boyfriend Brian Austin Green not being in attendance, and even weirdly jokes about her waistline, saying she starved herself for a month. (She then backtracks and claims she does a lot of Pilates.) Prior to this, she calls herself “a man” and “a doppelgänger for Alan Alda." Fox is clearly nervous in the interview, telling Rancic at one point, ”I'm on the verge of vomiting. I'm so horrified that I'm here and embarrassed and scared."
