Sources say they've been getting along really well.
Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton Are Reportedly Talking About a Netflix Collaboration
While things are reportedly cordial between brothers Prince Harry and Prince William, their wives, Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton, may be forming a long-distance friendship. The kind that results in making stuff together, and we don't mean bestie bracelets.
“Meghan and Kate are actually getting along really well and have been in touch more often,” says a source who spoke to Us Weekly. “Meghan has been talking to her about collaborating on a project for Netflix, a documentary that will spotlight Kate’s charity work and the huge impact she’s made with her philanthropy.”
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry inked a deal with the streaming giant last September, saying in a statement their production company will focus “on creating content that informs but also gives hope…As new parents, making inspirational family programming is also important to us. [Netflix’s] unprecedented reach will help us share impactful content that unlocks action.”
But with their new official YouTube channel up and running, do Prince William and Kate Middleton need to go through Netflix to get their work out there? Prince William did participate in an environmental documentary not too long ago, so maybe it’s something they’d go for.
According to Us’s source, it was Markle who reached out to Middleton to work together. Says the tipster, “Kate is very flattered, and it’s all very positive between them.”
The rumored rift between the two duchesses was an integral part of the negative press surrounding Markle before she and Prince Harry stepped down as senior royals. During the infamous Oprah Winfrey interview, Markle clarified that it was Middleton who made her cry just before the Sussex royal wedding, not the other way around.
“The reverse happened,” Markle said. “I say that not to be disparaging to anyone because it was a really hard week [of the 2018 wedding], and she was upset about something. She owned it and she apologized, and she brought me flowers and a note apologizing. She did what I would do if I knew I hurt someone.”
Sources now tell Us Weekly the two women are “closer than ever” these days.
