The supermodel announced the news on May 18.
Naomi Campbell Is Now a Mom
Naomi Campbell is now a mom.
The supermodel revealed on Tuesday, May 18, that she's welcomed her first child, a daughter. “A beautiful little blessing has chosen me to be her mother,” Campbell wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of the little one's feet. “So honoured to have this gentle soul in my life; there are no words to describe the lifelong bond that I now share with you, my angel. There is no greater love.”
Support from Naomi Campbell's famous friends soon came pouring in. “Oh my God!!!!! Today is the day??” designer Marc Jacobs wrote in the comments. “How absolutely incredible. How lucky she is and how lucky you are! What a wonderful Mother you will be. Blessings all around.”
Meanwhile, actor Zoe Saldana posted, “Oh my goodness congrats lady! What a blessing!!!”
Andy Cohen showed his love by sharing a series of emoji: “👏👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️.”
“Many many many congratulations to you and to your family—the village that will now rally around you and support you in cultivating that little angel!!!!” Jodie Turner-Smith posted under Campbell's announcement. “What an incredible blessing!!!”
The news may be surprising to some, but Campbell's actually talked about wanting to be a mother before. “I think about having children all the time,” she told Evening Standard in 2017. “But now with the way science is I think I can do it when I want.”
According to Metro, Campbell told The Wall Street Journal in 2019 she felt no pressure to have children. “Not yet,” she said when asked whether she's ready for kids. “I’ll see what the universe brings me. For now, what the universe has delivered is very much in the spirit of a ‘chosen family.’”
It's unclear how much of her daughter Campbell will share. The model is very private and has said about her dating life, “For me, privacy is important to know each other, and I always worry that my job will not allow that.”
Congrats, Naomi!
