Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher’s New Netflix Rom-Com Sounds Like ‘The Holiday’
Reese Witherspoon can do anything—including getting Ashton Kutcher back into rom-coms. The That 70s Show star was once a mainstay of the genre (Just Married, What Happens in Vegas, New Year's Eve), but has been working exclusively on TV projects since 2014.
But now, according to Deadline, he has another rom-com in the works: Your Place or Mine, a Netflix original.
Kutcher and Witherspoon will play “best friends who live on opposite coasts [and] swap homes for a week and see their whole lives change,” per Deadline. The screenplay was written by Aline Brosh McKenna, cocreator of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and scribe of The Devil Wears Prada. She'll also be making her feature directorial debut with Your Place or Mine. Kutcher, Witherspoon, and McKenna? This is our version of the Dream Team.
Reese Witherspoon, whose company Hello Sunshine is coproducing the project, has been just as busy behind the scenes as in front of the camera lately. She's making Legally Blonde 3, plus producing and starring in Apple TV+'s The Morning Show, which will come back for a second season soon.
Ashton Kutcher, meanwhile, has been starring on Netflix's The Ranch and focusing on his investment and philanthropical efforts, in addition to raising his two children with wife Mila Kunis. The pair recently opened up about their parenting style on an episode of Dax Shepard's podcast, Armchair Expert, explaining that they don't overwash their kids. Said Kutcher, “Now, here’s the thing: If you can see the dirt on them, clean them. Otherwise, there’s no point.”
While we wait patiently for Your Place or Mine (we don't have an exact release date yet), Netflix has thankfully added so many classic rom-coms to streaming. The Kissing Booth! To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before! Always Be My Maybe! Here are 16 of our favorites.
