Big Apple style isn’t always about dressing in all black.
Sarah Jessica Parker’s Eccentric Look Is So New York
Forget the paparazzi stroll: over the past few months Sarah Jessica Parker has been serving looks on her daily commute to her SJP shoe stores instead. Ever the real Manhattanite, Parker has the authentic New Yorker style to match her schedule—down to the headphones and backpack. But she doesn’t rely on the stereotype of wearing all-black in New York, instead, she proves that Big Apple style is more eccentric and colorful than you’ve been led to believe.
If you’ve ever lived in New York, you know the eccentric vibe I’m talking about: Women in artsy, ritzy neighborhoods like SoHo or old-money grannies in the Upper East Side, will take to the streets in outfits that are artfully mismatched. I’ve seen people wear sequin dresses or sky-high heels at 1 p.m. in the afternoon. Anything goes! Parker embraced this more-is-more approach this weekend, stepping out in a leopard coat that clashed against a printed dress, hot-pink printed leggings, and sequin pumps (by SJP, of course). The pieces shouldn’t work, but they somehow do. Perhaps it comes down to Parker’s confidence. But one thing’s for sure: this thrown-together look is so New York. All she needs now is a cwoffee.
