Serena Williams Embraces Spring’s Must-Have Floral Print

Beloved in the ’90s and now experiencing a resurgence thanks to vintage aficionados, daisies are back.

In case you hadn’t already heard, Serena Williams loves fashion. The tennis champion-turned-designer doesn’t just enjoy watching the runways or designing her own collections, however—she also still indulges in all the fun of dressing up to the nines. Currently at home in Miami, Williams has recently been treating her Instagram followers to a seemingly endless series of glamorous updates. Just take yesterday’s post, which saw Williams take on the floral pattern of the moment: posing up a storm in Richard Quinn’s daisy print catsuit, first debuted as part of his fall 2019 collaboration with Moncler. Pairing the look with Stuart Weitzman’s high-heel combat boots and pulling a few vampy backyard poses, the star uploaded the image with an appropriately cheeky caption: “This is how we do winters in Florida.”

Quinn’s action-packed prints have always been a central part of his collections, but the graphic daisies that feature on his Moncler pieces also echo the trend for retro style that has been sweeping through Instagram. Prints featuring the delicate flowers were everywhere in the mid-’90s (thanks, Drew Barrymore), and have experienced a resurgence thanks to vintage-loving millennials and Gen Zers—and while Loewe, Saint Laurent, and Paco Rabanne have all shown versions of the look on the runway, Quinn’s remains the closest to the retro original. Already a hit with celebrities (Yara Shahidi and Karlie Kloss both wore puffers covered in the petals last year) the motif’s popularity is set to be a major spring trend as everyone begins searching for a floral pattern that sets them apart from the pack. And as always, you heard it from Serena first.
