‘Sex Education’ Season 4 Is Officially Happening
You can stop worrying about that Sex Education cliffhanger because season four is officially happening.
On September 25, Ncuti Gatwa and Kedar Williams-Stirling kicked off the big announcement during Netflix's massive TUDUM fan event.
Honestly, season 3 left the entire Sex Education crew in a moment of major upheaval. Maeve (Emma Mackey) is off to America to further her education, leaving Otis (Asa Butterfield) relatively single once again. That's okay, though, because his best friend Eric (Gatwa) is in a similar boat after breaking things off with Adam (Connor Swindells), which I'm still personally devastated about. But hey, maybe something might be brewing between Adam and Rahim (Sami Outalbali)? If so, that may be short-lived considering Moordale Secondary School has officially been sold, leaving everyone to finish their final year of school elsewhere.
Oh, and how can we forget? Dr. Jean Milburn (Gillian Anderson) has just read the paternity report for new baby Joy…and things aren't looking so great for Jakob (Mikael Persbrandt).
Here's everything we know about Sex Education season 4 so far:
Who is returning? Based on the new announcement, it's safe to say Gatwa and Williams-Stirling will be reprising their roles as Eric Effiong and Jackson Marchetti, along with the rest of the main players. The biggest question mark at the moment is about Mackey, whose character is currently stateside. However, I have a feeling Maeve won't be out of the picture for too long.
Oh, and have we seen the last of Hope Hadden, played by Jemima Kirke? “Because Jemima is just so effortlessly cool, it becomes a very interesting thing to watch what this character is going to do next because you're not quite sure,” creator Laurie Nunn told Glamour. “We'll have to wait and see.”
Is Jakob the father? It's pretty safe to assume the answer is no, considering Jean's reaction in the finale as well as creator Nunn's latest interview. “I think that Jakob is not the father,” she told Glamour. “And as I said, let's really hope for series four so we can unpack that.”
