The beauty vlogger shares the products she can't live without.
Shalom Blac Drops Her Skin-Care Routine
Shalom Blac, it would seem, is a minimalist when it comes to her skin care. The beauty vlogger finds what works and sticks with it to the last drop before moving on to the next. She noticed that her skin is kinder to her when she uses fewer products, especially with her scarring.
In 2005, after a hot-oil accident in her mother’s restaurant in Nigeria when she was nine years old, Blac was left with deep burns across her face and body. Beyond the physical injury, it led to more bullying and worsened her mental health. Blac gradually learned to love her scars, finding self-love through her YouTube channel and makeup tutorials. She now spreads that message of positivity to millions of subscribers, and she's found a skin-care regimen as committed to natural beauty as she is.

Blac’s skin-care routine is a mix of luxury and drugstore products. She might get a toner from Target, but she'll splurge on a face wash. She has combination skin, so she’s constantly trying to balance oiliness and dryness in her face. (Same, sis. It’s a struggle.)
“When I started, I think I was doing a little too much,” Blac tells Glamour. “I was just trying to catch up with everyone and how I saw people doing it. But then I noticed with my skin, the simple things that I use and the less that I use, it actually works better for me.”
For the latest installment of Drop the Routine, Shalom Blac shares her skin-care favorites from Alicia Keys’s Soulcare line and the importance of a good SPF.
My exfoliator
I like to use the Keys Soulcare Be Luminous Exfoliator maybe twice a week, especially on days that I go to sleep without cleansing my skin until the next morning. It helps me really get in my pores and get the makeup out.

And then I will go in with the Keys Soulcare Golden Cleanser, which I use every day. It's a liquid cleanser that's really gentle and helps with the exfoliating that I do.

Twice a week I will do my Keys charcoal face mask. I put it on and I just let it sit for about 20 minutes. Then I wipe it off with a warm, damp towel.

To help with with my scarring, I use the Dermalogica Powerbright Dark Spot Serum. Especially for breakouts.

Next I go in with the Keys Soulcare Skin Transformation Cream. It really hydrates my skin where I need it, and it doesn't make me oily, which is the other thing that I have a problem with. It just makes my skin look super bouncy and glowy.

And then to finish off, I apply the Keys mist. It’s just a little spray that I put all over my face and will reapply if my face is getting a little dry throughout the day.

With my scarring, I know it's very easy for me to get skin burns or even skin cancer. So I like to use this Murad SPF for protection.

Lately I've been using the Keys Soulcare comforting balm. I put it underneath my eyes and a little bit on my lips.
