Simone Biles’s Boyfriend Wore a Simone Biles Shirt to Cheer Her On at the Olympic Trials

And they epically celebrated after she qualified.

There’s no Olympic event for cheerleading–or for being a supportive partner–but we’re going to give Simone Biles’s boyfriend, Jonathan Owens, a gold medal anyway. Owens, who plays safety for the Houston Texans football team, cheered on Biles at her Olympic trials in St. Louis in late June wearing a shirt bearing a quote from her. He also greeted her with flowers after she (duh) qualified for the Tokyo Games.

In pictures posted to Owens’s Instagram Stories, he wears a red T-shirt that says “Because I can —Simone Biles.” If you’re not wearing your girl’s merch, are you even her beau?

After they posed for pictures in the locker room, it seems Owens, Biles, and their friends went on an epic celebratory double date: They literally rode in a horse-drawn carriage through the streets of St. Louis. And I can’t even get a text back, damn.

So, how do I get a Jonathan Owens? Do I have to learn gymnastics? I’ll do it. It’ll be hard but…I’ll do it.

Three weeks ago Owens posted a picture with Biles to Instagram and wrote about how much he was looking forward to watching her in the trials: “What an amazing experience 👏🏽 First time getting to watch you compete in person and you didn’t disappoint. It’s so cool that i get to watch you do what you love, and be the best at that ‼️ I’m so proud of you my lil champ 🥰❤️ Trials up next and you already know I’m there!! Love you baby ❤️❤️,” he wrote. If you’re as obsessed with this couple as I am, check out Owens’s Instagram page; he has a highlight reel of their relationship, and it’s gold.

Owens won’t be able to join Biles in Japan due to the country’s COVID restrictions, reports People, but we know he’ll be cheering her on from home. And they allow international flower shipping, right?
