Sophia Di Martino's Costume in 'Loki' Has an Incredible Breastfeeding Detail
We're not sure what the maternity leave policy is at the TVA (probably not great, right? They're so old-fashioned), but we love the way Loki star Sophia Di Martino's costume accommodates her breastfeeding schedule.
If you haven't been watching the latest Marvel series on Disney+, Di Martino plays The Variant, a.k.a Sylvia, a.k.a Female Loki, a goddess of mischief and general badass who (spoiler) might be Regular Loki's one true love? As such, she wears a feminine version of Tom Hiddleston's iconic green leather suit and cape, complete with a horned golden crown. But it's the part of the costume we don't see on screen that matters most.
On July 1, Di Martino revealed that Christine Wada, who designed the costumes for the show and also worked on Bridesmaids (iconic!), included “concealed zippers” in her outfit so she could breastfeed and pump breast milk without taking her entire outfit off. Posting a picture of herself in the undergarment part of her costume, plus her hands-free breast pump, Di Martino wrote, “It’s not easy being a working Mama (Understatement!) #christinewada designed Sylvie’s costume and had the genius idea of adding concealed zippers for easy access so that I could use my hands-free @elvie pumps easily (pictured) and nurse my baby between takes.”

Clever, but also important. Parents shouldn't have to choose between feeding their kids and following their passions. As Di Maritno wrote, “It’s little (big) things like this that made it possible for me to do my job AND be a parent. I’m forever grateful 💖.”
Di Martino's Instagram was quickly flooded with supportive messages, many from other working moms. It also went viral on Twitter, where fans praised the show while pointing out that considerations like this should be standard, not exceptional.

Di Martino auditioned for the part of Sylvia while pregnant and completed her stunt training just a few months postpartum, reports BuzzFeed. Literal goddess!
