The CFDA Awards Will Return to an In-Person Ceremony This November

Get your red carpet shoes ready, because the CFDA Awards are back.

Following what is expected to be a robust in-person spring 2022 fashion week in New York, the CFDA Awards will return to a physical format this November. On November 10, CFDA chairman Tom Ford and CEO Steven Kolb will welcome an intimate group of American fashion leaders to the Pool Room and The Grill in the Seagram Building for a smaller, but no less impactful, ceremony. The event’s final shape may change in the coming months as the Centers for Disease Control’s guidelines about COVID-19 and the rapidly spreading Delta variant change, but the overarching message of the event stands: American fashion is back.

In a statement, Kolb reiterated that point: “This is an important moment in American fashion. There is much excitement about the return of New York City and New York Fashion Week, as well as the top caliber of diverse talent making their mark on the city and the global fashion landscape. The awards are CFDA’s biggest fundraiser of the year supporting our scholarship program, and we look forward to our industry coming together, in person again, to celebrate the very best of American creativity.”

The CFDA Awards, previously held at Lincoln Center, the Hammerstein Ballroom, and, most recently, the Brooklyn Museum, consistently bring out the best of American fashion, but the stakes are higher than ever this year. Not only will it be the first in-person awards show for the American fashion industry in more than two years, but it will coincide with the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s exhibition In America: A Lexicon of Fashion that will chronicle the diverse and intricate landscape of American style.
