The actress still hasn’t been to a live awards red carpet in the United States, but celebrated nonetheless.
The Story Behind Shira Haas’s Stunning Armani Privé Look for the Critics Choice Awards
Shira Haas has had a well-deserved breakout moment with her role in the series, Unorthodox. Haas plays Esther “Esti” Shapiro, a young sheltered woman living in a Hasidic enclave in Williamsburg who desperately wishes to leave. Since the show’s release, Haas has since been nominated for numerous awards. And yet, she still hasn’t attended an awards show red carpet in the flesh. Instead, she has been celebrating and watching the moments from afar. When she was nominated for an Emmy award in September, she was holed up in Tel Aviv, and stayed up until 5am to watch the ceremony. “The adrenaline was keeping me awake!” says Haas over the phone.
While still in lockdown, Haas made her way to Los Angeles to celebrate her nomination for a Critics Choice award. Though she was once again watching virtually, the glamour didn’t stop. Haas and her stylist Shalev Lavan worked with Armani to create a custom couture piece for the occasion: a tulle and crinoline dress that was embroidered with multicolored sequins and crystals in a botanical motif. The stunning piece came with a matching tulle cape embroidered with micro-crystals. “It was love at first sight,” says Haas.
Celebrating in Los Angeles is a bit different, thanks to the lack of a time change. “My jet lag is gone, and it [the ceremony] feels more real that I am in Los Angeles,” she said. “I wish it was like different conditions regarding that but I am just so happy. I feel a great privilege for this honor and I can’t complain to be honest.” Spoken like someone who is beautiful both on the inside and out.
