The Surprising Coat Style Fashion Girls Will Be Investing In This Season

Capes and cloaks are a major trend this season and add a touch of drama and sophistication to every outfit. Shop our favorites on the market right now.

One of my favorite buys of the season is unquestionably a cape. I found one at Zara that has major Celine vibes and is absolutely everything I’ve been looking for in a coat—bold, fashion-forward, and decidedly unique. Capes and cloaks had a huge presence on the runways, with designers like Oscar de la Renta and Prada styling the outerwear with everything from skinny jeans to leather pants and minis.

They’re powerful, alluring, and a little mysterious, exuding a touch of 19th-century romance, not to mention the fact that they’re an unquestionably chic alternative to the average wool coat. We’ve seen them on a plethora of fashion girls and celebrities so far this season, and we predict they’ll be all over our feeds by the time the leaves start to fall.

Ready to embrace the style in your everyday wardrobe? Whether you go for lighter poncho styles, heavier wool capes, plaid patterns, or dramatic ankle-length cloaks, capes are surprisingly easy to wear—throw one on with jeans and boots, or a miniskirt and tights for looks that will work for both day and night. Scroll below to get inspired on how to wear them and shop our favorites of the season.
