'The White Lotus' on HBO Is Getting a Second Season

Your stay has been extended.

The White Lotus on HBO has been extended for a second season, the network announced on Tuesday, August 10.

For the unfamiliar, The White Lotus centers on a group of wealthy travelers vacationing at an exclusive Hawaiian resort. But what starts out as a picturesque getaway soon descends into chaos as the cracks in these people's lives form. It's received rave reviews from critics and is currently the number-one show streaming on HBO Max, per a press release The true-ensemble casts includes Jennifer Coolidge, Sydney Sweeney, Connie Britton, Alexandra Daddario, and Jake Lacy, among others.

Here's everything we know about The White Lotus season two:

It's happening. Francesca Orsi, executive vice president of HBO programming, said in a statement, “Mike [White, the creator of White Lotus] has once again delivered a quintessential HBO show, and it’s the talk of the town. We were thrilled to hear where he wanted to go next, after closing this epic chapter in Hawaii, and can’t wait to keep following him wherever he takes us.”

No release date yet. The first season ended in August 2021.

The premise. We're getting a new cast of characters—and a new location. Per HBO's press release, “The next chapter of The White Lotus leaves Hawaii behind and follows a different group of vacationers as they jet to another White Lotus property and settle in temporarily amongst its inhabitants.”

Will any of the original characters return? Unclear. Mike White told TVLine, “I don’t think you can credibly have [all the season one guests] on the same vacation again. But maybe it could be a Marvel universe type thing, where some of them would come back."

He added, “We only made one-year deals with the actors, so we’d have to find out who is even available.”

We'll keep you posted with more details as they come in.
