The 'Who Killed Sara?' Ending, Explained (Plus, the Good News About Season 2)
Warning: Who Killed Sara on Netflix spoilers, ahead.
The only thing I learned from Netflix's new hit series, Who Killed Sara?, is that I no longer have any interest in parasailing. I definitely didn't learn who killed Sara, but that doesn't mean the show wasn't a wild ride.
The Mexican mystery thriller follows Alex Guzman's (Manolo Cardona) investigation into the death of his sister after being wrongly convicted for her murder. On a picturesque August day in 2001, Sara (Ximena Lamadrid) died while vacationing with her brother, her boyfriend Rodolfo Lazcano (Alejandro Nones), and the rest of his rich family. 18 years later, Alex gets out of prison and swears to take down Sara's true killer, only to discover that everyone is a suspect.
Here's what you need to know about that insane season finale—and the good news about season 2.

Who killed Sara? No clue. Okay, that's not exactly fair. We have learned that Lazcano matriarch Mariana (Claudia Ramírez) definitely wanted Sara dead and even came up with the murder plot. You see, Sara may have been dating Rodolfo, but she was pregnant with the Lazcano patriarch, César (Ginés García Millán).
On a hike up the mountains, Mariana tells Sara she knows about the pregnancy before suggesting Sara try parasailing before it's too dangerous for the baby. What Sara doesn't know is that Mariana has asked Elroy (Héctor Jiménez) to tamper with the harness. When Elroy refuses, she threatens to reveal that he is responsible for the death of his own mother and father. What we don't see is Elroy following through with the plan. In fact, he later tells Mariana, “I couldn't do it.” So, who did?
Who has been feeding Alex all that information? Throughout the series, a mystery woman referred to as “Diana the Huntress” has been providing Alex with important information about Sara's case. Turns out, the huntress was Sara's best friend, Marifer (Ela Velden). In another scene from the day of Sara's death, Marifer begs Sara to come to her house in tears, leaving us with more questions than before.
Who else could have killed Sara? As you now know, César, definitely had motive and has killed before. Why? Sara has seen one of the murders César taped at his casino/brothel. In fact, César and Sergio (Juan Carlos Remolina) have been covering up multiple killings of prostitutes who've been forced to work for him.
Though it doesn't seem like César is responsible for Sara's death, it looks like his days are a free man are numbered, thanks to Alex.
Anything else? In the finale, Alex found another one of Sara's diaries This one, however, details Sara's struggles with her mental health, including a passage that read, "I want to die." It also led him to discover a shallow gravesite with an actual, literal skeleton. When Alex calls his girlfriend, Eliza Lazcano (Carolina Miranda), he says he was wrong about everything. Clearly, the mystery is just getting started.
There's good news! You won't have to be confused for much longer (hopefully). In fact, new episodes of Who Killed Sara? are just over a month away. Netflix has announced that season two will drop on May 19, 2021.
Season one of Who Killed Sara? is available to stream on Netflix.
