These Two ‘School of Rock’ Child Stars Are Dating IRL—And Fans Are Freaking Out
You want to know something that's not tacky and that I don't hate? The fact that two of the original School of Rock child stars are dating IRL.
That's right: On May 16, TikTok user @marfymae brought this important piece of news to the attention of 1.8 million viewers who are now celebrating the fact that Angelo Massagli, who played Frankie, and Caitlin Hale, who played Marta, are a serious (and hot) couple 18 years later. See pics of them here and here.
The iconic 2003 film starring Jack Black follows a fake substitute teacher, Dewey Finn, who unites his private school class and forms a legit rock band. Frankie was a part of the band's adorable “security team,” while Marta was a backup singer for Summer Hathaway (Miranda Cosgrove) and Tamika (Maryam Hassan).
“FRANKIE AND MARTA FROM SCHOOL OF ROCK ARE A COUPLE?” @marfymae wrote on her TikTok video, in which she shared photos from the film as well as the couple's Instagram pages.
If you need further proof for some reason, School of Rock star Rivkah Reyes, who played cellist turned bass guitarist Katie in the film, posted their own TikTok back in February to give us an update on what everyone in the cast is up to now. “Caitlin Hale (Marta) is a registered nurse and Angelo Massagli (Frankie) is a lawyer and they are DATING!” they wrote.
People who saw @marfymae's TikTok couldn't be happier about this sweet fun fact. “This is the best news I've ever heard,” one user commented, receiving more than 13,000 likes.
“If Jack Black isn't invited to the wedding I s2g,” another user replied. While there have been no wedding announcements—therefore no invites to send out—both Hale and Massagli have reunited with Black years after the film's premiere.
This is just one awesome way the film's legacy has lived on. Aside from inspiring an actual Broadway musical, a scene from School of Rock went viral as recently as April. In the clip, Black's character lifts up a student who is concerned about being judged for their weight.
“Hey, you've got something everybody wants. You've got talent,” Dewey tells Tamika. “You've heard of Aretha Franklin, right? Okay, she's a big lady. But when she starts singing, she blows people's minds. Everyone wants to party with Aretha!”

“This scene is more revolutionary than I think they even knew and it really stuck with me as a child. Especially the last line,” Twitter user Hamish Steele wrote on April 18. The tweet has received 81,000 retweets and more than 470,000 likes.
“And you know who else has a weight issue? Me,” Dewey continues in the film. “But once I get up onstage, start doing my thing, people worship me! Because I'm sexy and chubby, man!”
That's where the “last line” Steele references comes in. When Tamika asks why the teacher doesn't go on a diet, he responds, “Because I like to eat…is that such a crime?”
Honestly, a perfect movie.
