This Seamless Underwear Is the Most Comfortable Lingerie You Can Buy

It glides right over your skin.

The elusive dress with pockets. That perfect pair of jeans. When it comes to the most important piece of clothing, panties (or underwear, for those who squirm at the P-word) aren’t usually the first thing that comes to mind. But I’ve always believed that a good outfit requires a good foundation—and if you’ve ever had Bad Panties ruin your day, you know exactly what I mean. Lucky for you and me (and our butts), direct-to-consumer underwear brand Parade just launched the most comfortable seamless panty to hit your top drawer.

In the past, when it came to our underwear choices, we might have had to sacrifice comfort for style, and vice versa. Thankfully, many modern companies have figured out a way to give us both without compromising, along with more welcoming size ranges—and Parade, which focuses on inclusivity, sustainability, and supporting sexual health organizations, is at the forefront of the comfy-and-cute movement.

When the New York City–based brand first launched in 2019, I was more than ready for some cool, new underwear to come into my life. Up until that moment, my underwear collection had been restricted to hasty purchases made whenever I was at the mall (remember the mall?) by an unnamed legacy lingerie brand. If I was making better, more mindful choices with the rest of my clothing, why not extend that to my underwear drawer? Plus, they speak to my personal interests. One of Parade’s collections is based on astrological signs, while another featured a collaboration with the aughts It brand Juicy Couture. As someone with multiple velour tracksuits, this was an absolute dream come true.

The brand’s latest release, Universal, is not a collab or inspired by a trendy theme, however. Instead, it addresses a common complaint: panty lines, as well as a more (actually) universal issue, climate change.

Universal is the brand’s first-ever invisible style, so you can kiss those dreaded panty lines goodbye (unless you’re like me and don't mind a panty line!). But what makes this seamless underwear stand out from the rest is what it's made of: supersoft recycled fabric and organic cotton lining. According to Parade’s founder and CEO, Cami Tellez, Universal is made from certified recycled yarns that result in 8.5% energy savings, 84% wastewater savings, and 77% less gas generation savings. “Sustainability is at the core of our brand,” says Tellez, “so on top of launching the world’s first carbon-neutral edgeless underwear, we took our efforts a step forward by investing in the conservation of May Ranch—over 14,500 acres of native prairie land in Colorado, and a vital home to over 300 bird species. This project will dramatically improve air quality in a state that has lost 48% of its natural grasslands in recent years.”

Taking things a step further, Parade is planning to make its business entirely carbon-neutral through a partnership with carbon-offset provider Native Energy, who advises the brand on how to neutralize its carbon footprint across the board. “With each product launch, we consistently fine-tune our operations to ensure it meets the highest levels of sustainability to ensure we meet our carbon-neutral goals,” says Tellez.

That was more than enough to convince me to try the Universal line. Now, I’m no stranger to seamless underwear. In fact, I own a few pairs from that aforementioned legacy lingerie brand. However, while those too had a soft fabric, they weren’t the best fit, and many times would roll down my cheeks until I had to demote them to the level of “house panties” (which are like house slippers, but for underwear).

Given the pandemic, I couldn’t do an exceedingly rigorous test with the Universal underwear, which would include hiking and other mobile activities. But being stuck at home, or really, being anywhere and doing anything, should always require comfortable panties. I’m not quite a thong gal, so I tried the Hip Huggers and High Rise Boy Shorts. While I was already familiar and a fan of the fit of these Parade styles, the texture of Universal really impressed me. These panties are seriously soft and feel amazing against your skin, almost like you have nothing on. They truly glide right on, and wearing them during the day and while sleeping was ridiculously comfortable.

Next came the panty-line test. At home I wear a lot of slip dresses, which are the perfect setting for visible underwear lines. I tested both styles against two of my slinkiest slips (one new, one vintage style) and they didn’t show at all! Amazing! Your sleekest workout leggings and most delicate housedresses wouldn’t stand a chance, either. The “performance” of the underwear is enough to make me want one in every cut, but the fact that it’s sustainably produced makes it an even better buy.

Bottom line, Parade’s Universal line is a win. I’m tempted to replace all of my old panties with Universal. Maybe you will be too.
