Timothée Chalamet Brings Slacker Style to Cannes
This week, Timothée Chalamet fans the world over rejoiced as he made his first red carpet appearance in over a year. It helped, of course, that he did so in the slickest of style. Attending the premiere of his latest film, Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch, on Monday, Chalamet posed with his co-star Tilda Swinton in a dazzling metallic Tom Ford suit paired with a crisp shirt and white leather boots. As the festival continues, Chalamet has been embracing his more casual side, if always with his signature Timothée twist.
Attending a photocall yesterday morning, he opted for a T-shirt from cult film production company Elara and loose black trousers tucked into a pair of sturdy, above-the-ankle Bottega Veneta boots. Alongside Wes Anderson’s preppy seersucker tailoring, Swinton’s razor-sharp Haider Ackermann pantsuit, and Bill Murray’s dadcore paisley short-sleeve shirt, this delightful hodge-podge of looks felt like the perfect reflection of each personality: Chalamet’s, of course, being the streetwear-loving New York City kid.
Finally, while attending a Louis Vuitton dinner at Fred L’Ecailler restaurant last night, Chalamet completed his trifecta of playful looks with a Virgil Abloh-designed, vintage-inspired track jacket in an eye-popping shade of teal that nodded to classic slacker style. His accessories, a bright blue leather messenger bag and a pair of floral-print sneakers, continued this kaleidoscopic theme (though he opted for a more subdued black shirt and trousers to round out the look). Chalamet might know how to turn out a killer red carpet tailoring moment, but his laid-back style moments can be just as fun too.
