Chalk it up to the state of the world, but comfort has never been more appealing. And when it comes to getting dressed, nothing seems to hit quite like an oversized t-shirt. In the before times (that is, prior to the pandemic) you may fondly recall that euphoric feeling of returning home after a long day at the office to slip into something more comfortable, likely a relaxed tee. Perhaps it was an 1980s vintage find from your parents’ attic or a perfectly worn-in shirt from an ex-boyfriend, whatever it was, it offered you a bit of freedom and relaxation. Fortunately, now that working from home has become a way of life for many, you’re entitled to envelop yourself in the unmatched comfort of an oversized tee all day long.

While a hand-me-down band tee comes with a patina that’s hard to replace, the garment is not one that fashion has forgotten. For a playful, athletic-inspired option, look no further than Sporty & Rich’s classic logo T-shirt. “With a relaxed fit and lightweight fabric, it offers everything you’d hope for in an oversized tee,” says assistant market editor Ciarra Zatorski. “Not to mention, you can dress it up or down to give any look a vintage feel.”

Stylist Chloe Hartstein, who works with Antoni Porowski, Glenn Close, and Chris Rock, is an avid fan of menswear label Post-Imperial’s tees. “The fabrics are split and put back together like a puzzle,” she says. “Each shirt is hand-dyed in Nigeria, made in Kenya, and offers such a nice pop of color.”
