A bow and arrow is one of the best weapons at your disposal in RuneScape: Dragonwilds, but how do you craft the items?

How To Craft A Bow And Arrows In RuneScape: Dragonwilds

How to craft a bow in RuneScape: Dragonwilds

First and foremost, you need a bow in Dragonwilds, as it's required to complete an early main story quests that needs you to harvest deer antlers.

A bow isn't too difficult to craft, but, similar to crafting runes, it's not available as one of the beginner recipes on the crafting table. Instead, you have to build a Spinning Wheel at your base. A Spinning Wheel is a crafting station that requires the following resources to construct:

  • x12 Ash Logs
  • x4 Flax
  • x2 Stone
A Spinning Wheel needs a roof over it.

Ash Logs and Stone will be in your inventory already, but you might need to go out searching for Flax. Luckily, you can easily pick up Flax in the area of Bramblemead Valley, where there's a ton of it lying around a ruined town. Flax is a blue flower that's found all over grassy areas.

When you have the resources for a Spinning Wheel, you must place it underneath a roof. This can be at your base or at any roof you find in the world. You don't even have to construct an entire base; just an area with a single roof will do.

With the Spinning Wheel placed, your next task is to place either Flax or Coarse Animal Fur inside of the wheel's inventory. This produces Coarse Thread, which unlocks a slew of crafting recipes after it's been produced a single time. One of those recipes is for the Ash Shortbow, which you can now craft at a crafting table.

The Ash Shortbow requires the following resources to craft:

  • x12 Ash Logs
  • x3 Coarse Thread

Now that you have your Ash Shortbow, it's time to craft some arrows for it, as a bow is useless without its ammunition.

Stone arrows

If you visit your crafting table, you'll see a new section has appeared that contains two types of arrows you can now craft. The first is Stone Arrows, and these have a power level of one, so they're not overly damaging, but still get the job done. Stone Arrows require the following to craft:

  • x1 Stone
  • x1 Feather
  • x1 Ash Log

Feathers can be procured by killing chickens and other birds in RuneScape: Dragonwilds, which are found all over the map. This includes the ruined town in Bramblemead Valley, where you found the Flax.

Fang arrows

In addition to Stone Arrows, you can also craft Fang Arrows, which have a power level of two and are the superior option in terms of overall damage. Here's what you need to craft Fang Arrows:

  • x1 Ash Log
  • x1 Feather
  • x1 Small Animal Fang

Small Animal Fangs are looted when you kill some of the game's enemy creatures, such as Giant Rats. Giant Rats are located all over the world of RuneScape: Dragonwilds, but you can find them in large quantities at a ruined windmill in the northern part of Temple Woods.

The resources we've outlined above produce 33 arrows each, so if you choose to craft three Fang Arrows, you're really crafting 99 of them. While that might seem like a lot at first glance, you tend to go through arrows pretty quickly in RuneScape: Dragonwilds, so you want to make sure you stock up on plenty before a big excursion.

When you have your bow and arrows ready to go, all you have to do to use them is equip your bow from the inventory and then use the right mouse click to aim the bow. While aiming, press the left mouse click to fire an arrow. You can get more power and accuracy behind an arrow the longer you aim.

Unlike other skills in RuneScape: Dragonwilds, you currently can't progress your Ranged skill. That's one of the features coming later on in early access, as outlined by the game's roadmap that you can see from the main menu.
