Amazon and Best Buy are offering a steep discount on the MacBook Air M2

The MacBook Air with M2 chip remains an excellent laptop in 2024. Apple's proprietary chipset boasts an 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU. It's very uncommon for a MacBook with this much power and speed to be sold for $799 (in new condition), so it's not surprising that Amazon has already sold out of a few of the color options. For now, Best Buy has all four styles in stock: Midnight, Starlight, Space Gray, and Silver.

Outside of the great chip, you'll get a 13.6-inch Liquid Retina Display, 8GB RAM, and a 1080p FaceTime HD webcam to chat with family or duck into a video conference.

Rounding out the spec sheet for the MacBook Air M2 is a slim chassis that weighs less than three pounds, a battery that gets you up to 18 hours of juice, and a speaker system with support for spatial audio. Toss in the responsive Magic Keyboard and Touch ID for quick access, and it's easy to see why the MacBook Air is so popular for students and professionals alike. The M2 MacBook Air certainly isn't meant to be a dedicated gaming machine, but the vast majority of games that offer Mac support should run great.
