Black Mirror Creator Tried Using AI To Write An Episode And It Went Terribly
Charlie Brooker talks about using ChatGPT to write an episode of Black Mirror
Brooker's experimentation with ChatGPT wasn't a total waste of time, though. He said using the AI technology helped him learn what not to do with respect to writing an episode of Black Mirror.
"I was aware that I had written lots of episodes where someone goes 'Oh, I was inside a computer the whole time!,'" he said. "So I thought, 'I'm just going to chuck out any sense of what I think a Black Mirror episode is.' There’s no point in having an anthology show if you can't break your own rules. Just a sort of nice, cold glass of water in the face."
Hollywood writers are now on strike due in part to concerns about studios using AI programs for scriptwriting. The strike remains ongoing with no end in sight.
As for Black Mirror, the show returns with five movie-length episodes on June 15 via Netflix. You can check out the latest trailer above.
