Disgaea 7 Getting A Switch 2-Exclusive Deluxe Edition This Fall

With the Switch 2 now out in the wild, we're starting to see more third-party games announced for the system. One of the newly announced ones here is Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless, which was originally released in 2023 for PC, PS5, PS4, and the original Switch. If you held off on getting it then, your patience has paid off because this new version includes all DLC and bonus content. It'll be arriving on October 31 for Switch 2, and you can preorder it for $70.

Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless Deluxe Edition includes the base game on Switch 2, all the DLC released for the original game, and the new Netherworld Nostalgia episode that features all-new story missions inspired by previous games in the series. You also get an exclusive mini-poster and a sticker sheet. The Switch 2 version will also look and run better than the original Switch version release.

While this version is exclusive to Switch 2, it's worth noting that this is a Game Key Card release. This means none of the game data is included on the cartridge, which instead acts as an authentication key to unlock and download the digital game on Switch 2. Game Key Cards are not locked to Switch 2 consoles, so if you do decide to part with it in the future, you won't be losing any resale value on the game. Physical copies on other platforms include all the game data on the disc or cartridge.

Publisher NIS is also offering an exclusive "Ewwdo Edition" of the game that includes everything from the Switch 2 Deluxe Edition plus a few more physical extras, including a NetherTime Support Force folding fan replica, a Lucky Slumber Cat decoration, and a collector's box.

As mentioned above, Disgaea 7 also launched on PS5, PS4, PC, and Switch back in 2023. Physical PlayStation copies are sold out, but you can pick up boxed Switch copies for $39 at Amazon. This version includes the full game on the cartridge, a mini artbook, and digital soundtrack, but lacks all the DLC and physical bonuses of the upcoming Switch 2 release. While you can play the Switch version on the Switch 2--potentially at slightly better performance--there doesn't seem to be a Switch 2 upgrade path, so only grab this version if you don't mind skipping the Switch 2 Deluxe Edition's enhancements.

Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless Deluxe Edition is one of severalSwitch 2 games available to preorder at Amazon. This includes several first-party Nintendo games for the first time in several months, like Donkey Kong Bananza, which launches on July 17. This is the first 3D adventure in the iconic franchise since 1999's Donkey Kong 64, and it looks like the game will push the Switch 2 hardware to the limit with all of the destruction that you can cause as the mighty ape.
