Geralt Actor Doug Cockle Reveals Cancer Diagnosis, Witcher Community Rallies Around Him
Doug Cockle says he has "full blown prostate cancer" and is advising men over 50 to get tested
After Cockle shared the news, many showed him support, including the official Witcher video game Twitter account. "Sending our best wishes! We know you can beat this, witcher!" the developers said. CD Projekt Red global community director Marcin Momot said, "Wishing you a speedy recovery, Doug!" Critical Role's Matthew Mercer replied, "You got this, Doug! Sending all the love, and we're all in your corner. <3" The Witcher community on Reddit (via GamesRadar) also rallied around Cockle and wished him the best as he gets treatment.
Cockle voiced Geralt in The Witcher, The Witcher: Assassins of Kings, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Whether or not he comes back for The Witcher 4 is unknown. Geralt's story ended in The Witcher 3, but that doesn't necessarily rule out the character from coming back.
Outside of the game series, Netflix's The Witcher series returns on June 29, and it's the last season to feature Henry Cavill as Geralt. For Season 4, Liam Hemsworth will play Geralt.
