Fable Co-Developer Eidos Montreal Lays Off Staff, The Latest Cuts From Embracer

Eidos Montreal is cutting 75 staff, on top of the 97 positions that were axed in 2024
Eidos Montreal added: "These very talented, highly experienced experts are going to enter the employment market, and we are working to support them through this transition."
The last game that Eidos Montreal released was 2021's Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. It is now co-developing the new Fable game with Playground Games. Eidos Montreal is also known for 2020's Marvel's Avengers, Shadow of the Tomb Raider (2018), Deus Ex: Mankind Divided (2016), and Thief (2014).
In 2024, it was reported that Eidos Montreal owner Embracer canceled an upcoming unannounced Deus Ex game and implemented a round of layoffs at the Canadian developer. The cuts affected 97 people. With the 75 added today, that's 172 layoffs at Eidos Montreal across both waves of downsizing.
Embracer acquired Eidos Montreal in 2022, at the time taking ownership of the game rights to Deus Ex, Tomb Raider, and Legacy of Kain. Less than a week ago, Embracer also cut jobs at Crystal Dynamics, laying off 17 people.
