Now Playing: Nintendo Switch 2 And All Its Accessories Unboxing

A statement on Nintendo's Japanese website confirms this and also states there is a compatibility issue pertaining to Mii Fighter thumbnails failing to save correctly. An update for these issues is planned for release "soon," IGN reported.

According to Nintendo, just a tiny percentage of first-party games have compatibility issues with the Switch 2's backwards compatibility program. This specific problem with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate isn't the worst, but it's annoying for anyone who experiences it, especially if their preferred fighter is a Mii Fighter.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is one of the Switch's most popular games, having sold more than 36 million copies. Nintendo has not announced any new Smash games, and series director Masahiro Sakurai is now working on Kirby Air Riders for Switch 2.

Despite being one of the Switch's biggest and best-selling games, it isn't getting either a Switch 2 Edition or a free Switch 2 update.
