If you're new to the series: Dungeon Carl Crawler is a quintessential example of the LitRPG genre. When bored aliens transform Earth into a giant video-game style dungeon, Coast Guard veteran Carl becomes a participant in a life-or-death tournament. Carl is accompanied by a cat named Princess Donut. Throughout the series, the duo squares off against a wide array of monsters and solves puzzles. In case the name Princess Donut didn't give it away, Dungeon Crawler Carl doesn't take itself too seriously. Despite the high stakes, the series frequently leans into the ridiculousness of the scenario with darkly humorous dialogue and over-the-top violence.

You can start your journey with Carl and Princess Donut by picking up the hardcover edition of Dungeon Crawler Carl (Book 1) for $20.30 (was $30) at Amazon.

The 2025 hardcover releases are following the same release schedule as the first three novels: Ace is publishing one hardcover per month for the next three months. The Gate of the Feral Gods (Book 4) released on March 11 and is discounted to $22.50 (was $30) at Amazon. The Butcher's Masquerade, the fifth book in the series, will be published on April 8. Book 6, The Eye of the Bedlam Bride, is available to preorder for $34 (was $39) ahead of its May 13 release.

If you're wondering why the retail prices are higher for later books in the series, it's likely related to page count. Books 1 and 2 were 464 and 384 pages, respectively, whereas Book 5 is 720 pages and Book 6 is the longest book in the series at 832 pages.

The only book in the series without a hardcover edition is The Inevitable Ruin. If you want to read Book 7, you'll have to settle for the $22.49 paperback or $6 Kindle ebook. It seems inevitable that The Inevitable Ruin will also receive a hardcover edition with a $35-$39 list price--the novel is 722 pages in paperback.

Many fans of Dungeon Crawler Carl listen to the series on audiobook. Superbly narrated by Jeff Hays, all seven audiobook productions are exclusive to Audible. The highly rated audiobook version of The Inevitable Ruin released in February. Subscribers can purchase each novel with a Credit ($15 each), and Audible Premium Plus members can use their free monthly Credit on The Inevitable Ruin or any other Dungeon Crawler Carl book.

It's also worth noting that the full series is available to read for no extra charge for Kindle Unlimited subscribers. Alternatively, you can buy all seven Dungeon Crawler Carl ebooks for $39. The first three books cost $5 each, while the last four are $6 each.
