Sirland said it would be simply "not fun" and "too random" for players to take damage or die immediately when a room crumbles around them. Instead, the game was intentionally designed to give players a window to escape a busted-out room. "Stay under rubble falling and you'll see. Most for bigger parts," he said.

And as with Battlefield 6's other elements, the destruction-damage will be "tuned" ahead of launch, Sirland said.

As for aim-assist, community manager Kevin Johnson reacted to a video showing the differences between aim-assist in Battlefield 6 and Black Ops 6. A single video doesn't tell the whole story and may not be representative of every person's experience, but many have said Call of Duty's aim-assist is more active than Battlefield's. Johnson, for his part, said Battlefield 6 isn't doing anything significantly differently than any past title has. "It is there to assist, and it should guide you during heated moments so that you're able to be in fair standing towards other peripheral users, but not above. YOU are the skill," he said.

Battlefield 6's open beta recently wrapped up its first weekend of testing, and it was a huge success, eclipsing Call of Duty player numbers. Weekend 2 begins August 14, and it includes more maps and modes.

Battlefield 6 launches in full on October 10 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The game is not coming to Game Pass, but you can get the game's $100 edition by subscribing to EA Play Pro.
