Jim Carrey Says He's Down To Return For Sonic 4

"Instead of retiring, I've decided to power-rest."

Carrey has played the role of mustachioed baddie Doctor Ivo Robotnik in all of the live-action Sonic films, including the recently released Sonic The Hedgehog 3. The most recent entry in the series also saw Carrey portray Doctor Robotnik's grandfather, Gerald.

According to Carrey, a large part of his desire to return to the franchise lies with the creators of the films and Sonic fans themselves.

"I certainly love this crew, I love this gang that makes these movies, and I love the fans," he explained. "There's a lot of really great energy around it, great responses, and the fans jump in and say, 'How about if you do this?' They've been super helpful. I think we're all making this movie together."

Carrey came out of retirement to take on his dual role in Sonic 3, joking on the red carpet that he did it because he needed the paycheck. But in the wake of the film's release, it seems he's decided to retire from retirement.

"Instead of retiring, I've decided to power-rest," Carrey said.
