Assassin's Creed Shadows Hits 5 Million Players, 2 Billion Stealth Kills

It's a good time to be a lover of feudal Japan
Ubisoft additionally revealed in an earnings report more details about Assassin's Creed Shadows' first expansion, titled Claws of Awaji. Set to release before the end of Ubisoft's second financial quarter on September 30, the expansion will add more than 10 hours of new content as well as a new weapon, skills, and abilities.
Assassin's Creed Shadow' new expansion will arrive ahead of developer Sucker Punch's Ghost of Tsushima sequel Ghost of Yotei, which releases October 2. The first-party PlayStation series has often been compared to Assassin's Creed thanks to its open world, focus on stealth, and its historical setting, with many noting how it felt like Sucker Punch beat Ubisoft to the feudal Japan punch back when Ghost of Tsushima first released in 2020.
Sony recently revealed more details about Ghost of Yotei during a State of Play, like how protagonist Atsu will be armed to the teeth with different weapons, can disarm foes, and will team up with allies like a wolf companion. Ghost of Yotei will also bring back Kurosawa mode, as well as new modes that will honor other giants of Japanese samurai cinema.
Ubisoft, meanwhile, continues to regularly update Assassin's Creed Shadows. In May, it updated the game's parkour system and introduced two surprising crossovers. Its most recent update in June introduced a new Nightmare difficulty setting and a collaboration quest with Critical Role.
