The mainline Gears of War novel series is particularly enticing, telling stories set in the same universe as the games. They also don’t necessarily have to be read in order, meaning you can jump in at any point. If you’re looking for content related to Gears 5, consider Gears of War: Bloodlines, which follows the game's protagonist Kait Diaz after the collapse of Settlement 2. There's also the original Gears of War trilogy novels Aspho Fields, Jacinto's Remnant, and Anvil Gate, which tie directly into the original Gears of War's storyline.
