Like other Switch 2 launch games, Mario Kart World is getting a standard edition that will run you $80. That pricing applies to physical and digital versions alike. That's a big step up from the $60 average for Nintendo Switch games and $70 average for PS5 and Xbox Series X games. There are no extras or special features included in this version--it's just the base game. However, you'll get a physical copy to add to your shelf, and the full game is on the cartridge. You can preorder physical copies of Mario Kart World standard edition at Walmart, Target, GameStop, and Best Buy.

As mentioned above, this is $30 cheaper than the $530 you would pay picking up a physical copy of the game for $80 and the console for $450.
This bundle is expected to sell out fast, and it will be discontinued in Fall 2025, according to Nintendo. You can check Walmart, Target, GameStop, and Best Buy for restocks.

As such, every Switch 2 console comes with enough controllers for local multiplayer for two racers. If you want to host a Mario Kart World party this summer, consider picking up an extra pair of Joy-Con 2 Controllers or single Joy-Con.
- Joy-Con 2 Controllers (2-Pack) -- $94
- Joy-Con 2 (Right, Red Strap) -- $54
- Joy-Con 2 (Left, Blue Strap) -- $54
You can use standard stick and button inputs to race, but Mario Kart World will also support motion controls, allowing players to tilt their controllers like a real steering wheel for increased immersion. If you plan on using the tilt controls, check out Nintendo's official Joy-Con 2 Wheel Set.
These controller attachments actually look quite nice for the price, with textured covers reminiscent of actual steering wheels. It's also cool that each two-pack comes with one red and one blue wheel to match the color accents on the left and right Joy-Con 2 Controllers.
GameStop is releasing its own Joy-Con 2 Wheels. Two-packs of red and black wheels cost $17. It's hard to say for sure without testing both of them, but GameStop's attachments certainly look cheaper.

Mario Kart World looks to be a gorgeous, expansive new entry in the long-running arcade racing series, offering a fully explorable world map for the first time. Players will be able to explore on- and off-road alongside other players, take on unique mission challenges scattered around the world, or engage in traditional racing and battle modes across numerous all-new tracks. The game will also have a staggering roster of up to 84 playable characters, with up to 24 competing at a time in the various racing modes. This is the Switch 2's marquee launch title, and if you're interested in learning more, be sure to check our latest Mario Kart World hands-on impressions.
