Nintendo accidentally confirmed the Switch 2's mystery button is, in fact, a C Button

Nintendo Quietly Confirmed The Switch 2's C Button In Nintendo Today Promo

Granted, we still don't know what the button actually does. The last Nintendo console with a "C" button was the Nintendo 64, which had four of them--a set of four buttons roughly where "ABXY" is on the current Switch. Wario64's replies were full of suggestions about what the "C" might stand for, and while most of them were lewd, one seems like a reasonable fit: Cursor. If the Switch 2 lets users imitate a mouse with the Joy-Con, as Nintendo suggested in the console's reveal trailer, perhaps the "C" button is what tells the Switch 2 to change how it registers Joy-Con inputs.

Whatever it does, we don't have much longer to wait before we find out. Nintendo is hosting another Direct devoted to the Switch 2 and its game launch plans on April 2, 2025.
