Nintendo has found its Link and Zelda

The Legend of Zelda Live-Action Film Lead Actors Confirmed By Nintendo

An English actress, Bragason's first major role was in the 2017 television series Three Girls, and she also appeared in the 2021 horror film Censor. Since then, she has had several more roles in TV series and films. Interestingly, she also voiced a young version of the character Luna in Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy, a 2021 CG-animated film that tied in to Final Fantasy 15.

Ainsworth is also an English actor, and his previous acting credits include Miles in The Haunting of Bly Manor, William in the Disney series Flora & Ulysses, and he voiced Pinocchio in the live-action remake.

The Legend of Zelda movie will be a co-production between Nintendo and Sony Pictures, with Maze Runner and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes director Wes Ball helming the project. Miyamoto will help produce it, alongside Marvel veteran Avi Arad. While we don't know too much about the film, Ball has mentioned that he wants it to be visually reminiscent of Studio Ghibli movies but still grounded in reality.

"I have this awesome idea," he said. "I've been thinking about it for a long freakin' time, of how cool a Zelda movie would be... I want to fulfill people's greatest desires. I know it's important, this [Zelda] franchise, to people and I want it to be a serious movie. A real movie that can give people an escape," Ball previously said about his vision for the film.

The Legend of Zelda movie is currently scheduled to be released on May 7, 2027.
