Now Playing: The Outer Worlds 2 - Official Story Trailer | Xbox Games Showcase 2025

The Outer Worlds 2 is a standalone sequel that will cast the player as an Earth Directorate agent who has been sent to the Arcadia colonies to determine the source of the rifts that may drag multiple factions into a rebellion against the Protectorate. There are a handful of new companion characters that the player can recruit, as well as refined traits and faults that both help and hinder the main character during their quest.

During the showcase, it was also announced that The Outer Worlds 2 will be released on October 29 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. Like Obsidian's earlier title this year, Avowed, The Outer Worlds 2 will be on Game Pass Ultimate at launch. The price for the game has also been set at $80.
