Plug into the cult classic later this month

Switch 2 Is Adding This Hard-To-Find GameCube Game To Switch Online Library

Originally released in 2006 in North America, Chibi-Robo is a platform-adventure game where you play as the titular diminutive hero tasked with helping out the Sanderson household. As you complete tasks, you gain "Happy Points" in your goal to become the top-ranked "Super Chibi-Robo" in the world. But over time, you will also be helping out the Sanderson family tackle their own personal problems.

Although Chibi-Robo only achieved modest sales when originally released, it's become a rare cult classic that had never previously been re-released, while the copies of the game often fetch high prices. In our original review, we said, "Despite the monotonous and occasionally tiresome gameplay, the great cast of characters and offbeat sense of humor manage to make Chibi-Robo a compelling and ultimately enjoyable experience."

It was the only home console release for the series, with subsequent instalments, such as Chibi-Robo: Park Patrol and Chibi-Robo! Zip Lash, developed for the Nintendo DS and 3DS respectively. The latter was considered a commercial failure, including even in Japan.

Nintendo has previously confirmed that other GameCube classics like Super Mario Sunshine, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, and Pokemon Colosseum will be added to the Switch Online service in the future.

Other perks from the Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscriptions have included Switch 2 edition upgrades, although this has so far been limited to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for those who own the original games on Switch 1.
