Pokémon Bank is the one exception

Nintendo 3DS And Wii U Online Services Will Shut Down In April 2024

The only exception is Pokemon Bank, which will still be online. Nintendo also notes that support for it may end in the future as well. Fortunately, players will still be able to use features and game modes that don't require online communication after the shutdown, such as StreetPass, which relies on local communication. However, SpotPass does use online services, which means it won't be available.

Furthermore, it will still be possible to download update data and redownload purchased software and DLC from the eShop.

Nintendo closed down the 3DS and Wii U eShops earlier this year. This isn't the only shutdown this year, either. Microsoft said that the Xbox 360 Marketplace is closing in July 2024.
