Seagate has some competition from Western Digital in the Xbox Series X|S expansion card department

Western Digital Xbox Series X|S Storage Expansion Card Available Now

After leaking back in April, Western Digital has finally confirmed the WD_Black C50, and it's available to purchase now at Best Buy and Western Digital. Two storage capacities are available at launch: 1TB for $150 and 500GB for $80.

Western Digital C50 Expansion Card for Xbox Series X

The WD Black C50 Expansion Card is priced competitively to compete with Seagate cards, which recently received official price drops. The 1TB Seagate card is also available for $150. The 512GB Seagate card is $10 more than the C50 at $90, but it does have 12GB of additional storage versus the 500GB WD. Also, Seagate has a 2TB card for $280.

Like many of Western Digital's other products, the WD Black C50 1TB Expansion Card features an industrial aesthetic and a plug-and-play design. Simply insert the card into the expansion slot on the Xbox Series X|S console, and you're good to go. Any games installed on it will benefit from the same Xbox Velocity technology that allows for Quick Resume and lightning-quick loading times, creating a seamless method for expanding your game library. It's worth noting that you can use a regular external hard drive to store games, but you can't play Xbox Series X|S games without transferring them to the Xbox's SSD or one of the official expansion cards. You can, however, load Xbox One games from your external drive on Xbox Series X|S.
