Now Playing: Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 Has A Boomer Vampire In It

Just what those adjustments will be remains to be seen, but during Gamescom, The Chinese Room justified its decision to paywall two of the game's six clans by saying that they were developed as additional work, per the request of publisher Paradox Interactive.

It's also worth noting how clans work in Bloodlines 2. Primarily, clans offer distinct powers and skills based on their overall identity, with the Toreador embodying the romanticized aspect of vampires with their ability to seduce their victims, while the Lasombra are predators who can bend the shadows to their will. These are two clans that have vastly different identities, but their skills can still be unlocked in Bloodlines 2, if you're aligned with the other four playable clans.

Powers from these clans can be unlocked as you level up, but doing so requires you to pay more in terms of skill points and currencies earned by draining specific NPCs of their special blood or finding a vampire who'll teach you their abilities. Essentially, the powers attributed to your chosen clan are easier to obtain, but unrelated powers from different clans are more expensive to obtain. Each clan also offers unique passive abilities, tied to their culture.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 launches on October 21 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
