Star Citizen's standalone game featuring Mark Hamill, Gary Oldman, Gillian Anderson, and other celebrities is now in the polish phase

Star Citizen's Squadron 42 Is Now Feature-Complete After 10 Years, See New Footage Here

Squadron 42 features a star-studded cast of celebrities, including Mark Hamill, Gillian Anderson, Gary Oldman, Mark Strong, Henry Cavill, Andy Serkis, John Rhys Davies, Liam Cunningham, and Ben Mendelsohn, among others. The game does not yet have a release date, though. It's described as a cinematic story inspired by sci-fi works of the '70s and '80s.

"Polish phase can take some time," Roberts said. "We have come this far, and we want to make sure Squadron 42 delivers on the promise of being this generation's Wing Commander."

Star Citizen, meanwhile, has been available to players for years already and continues to be updated and expanded upon. Cloud Imperium Games has raised more than $600 million since 2012 in crowdfunding from fans. The developer's public funding page shows that people contributed more than $1.6 million on Sunday, October 22 alone thanks in part to the big CitizenCon event.

The lengthy wait for Squadron 42 and the finished version of Star Citizen has upset some people. Cloud Imperium Games has said the huge amount of money from crowdfunding has led to an increase in scope and a lengthier development process than originally planned.
