Sweet Tooth Is Irredeemable, Samoa Joe Says, Teasing Twisted Metal Season 2

Sweet Tooth did something unconscionable in Season 1, and he'll never find peace, the actor says
Hollywood is full of narcissists, and Sweet Tooth is just like them, Samoa Joe said.
"Sweet Tooth is very much a narcissist," he said. "The world revolves around him, and he thinks he's the main character in the movie. That's the basis of who he is. And what really, especially in this show, what really drives me to do what he does."
Samoa Joe said that Sweet Tooth does whatever he wants to do, no matter the cost. In Season 2, Sweet Tooth will have new adversaries, in part due to his participation in the vehicular combat tournament run by Calypso, played by Anthony Carrigan.
"He is desperately anxious to murder them as soon as possible, and he can't," Samoa Joe said. "And it's, you know, it's maddening. And so it's like I said, it's the kid who desperately wants that cookie in that jar."
For fans expecting Sweet Tooth to have some kind of change of heart that will alter his way of life, don't bet on it. In a shocking Season 1 flashback episode explaining Sweet Tooth's origins and motivations, we see a young Sweet Tooth viciously murdering an adorable golden retriever with knitting needles in front of a live stage audience. He also locked his parents in a cell and threw away the key.
Samoa Joe said in the interview, "I mean, he killed the dog. I think that's pretty ... yeah, that's unforgivable."
"I think Sweet Tooth has the best intentions for the worst things ever," he continued. "I think a lot of it is Sweet Tooth searching for some form of contentment. And his pursuit of the fame that he never really got is definitely what's obsessing him."
Showrunner MJ Smith confirmed that Sweet Tooth plays a much bigger role in Season 2. He said Sweet Tooth will show up in "three times as many episodes" as he did in Season 1. "So we'll get to see a lot of Sweet Tooth," Smith said.
Twisted Metal Season 2 premieres July 31 on Peacock.
