The aforementioned 20.1.0 update arrived May 27 and made some notable audio and visual changes to the Switch's interface to bring it more in line with its successor. In particular, Nintendo tweaked the look and color of the Parental Control settings button on the Home screen, as well as changed the sound that plays when launching the Nintendo Switch Online menu.
The 20.1.0 update also arrived alongside a new patch for Animal Crossing: New Horizons--the first the game has received since 2022. In preparation for Switch 2's launch, the 2.0.7 update "improved the compatibility for multiplayer sessions between Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch."
The Nintendo Switch 2 hits stores on June 5. The console itself retails for $450, while the Mario Kart World bundle runs for $500. The latter, however, will only be available for a limited time and is set to be discontinued in Fall 2025.
While Switch 2 preorders quickly sold out when they went live back in April, many retailers like Walmart and Target will have in-store and online restocks this week in time for the system's launch. You can read more in our Switch 2 restock guide.
