Team Cherry's sequel (briefly) appeared during a Switch 2 game montage

Hollow Knight: Silksong Is Releasing This Year, According To Nintendo Switch 2 Direct

Team Cherry's highly anticipated metroidvania was originally announced for Nintendo Switch and PC as part of an E3 2019 Nintendo Direct, and was later confirmed to also be releasing on Xbox and PlayStation consoles.

Since then, however, news about the sequel has been scarce. It at one point was slated to release in 2023 but has been continually delayed, resulting in fans picking apart any and every piece of news regarding when it might release. In January, Team Cherry's marketing and publishing lead said the game is still "real, progressing and will release" but did not provide additional details.

Earlier this year Hollow Knight: Silksong was briefly removed from the Nintendo eShop, sparking concern, but later returned. The game's metadata on Steam recently changed as well, giving fans hope that Silksong may finally release this year.
