Xbox Series S Gets A Discount, But It's Only Temporary
The 512 GB Xbox Series S digital edition is on sale right now
This price cut isn't permanent, though. A Microsoft spokesperson told GameSpot, "Any pricing variations are part of temporary promotional offers."
The 1TB Xbox Series S console is not on sale, nor are any versions of the Xbox Series X consoles. Other retailers appear to be matching Microsoft's offer, as Amazon and Walmart are selling the same console for the same price.
In other Xbox news, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer recently talked about how the next Xbox should be more innovative to help compete in the market. Spencer also rejected the idea that Microsoft could exit the video game hardware market.
"Our own hardware? I think it's fundamental to what Xbox is. It's not lost on me that, 'Box' is in the name of our brand. I'll say, in the position I'm in, I look at hardware as a critical part of what we do," he said.
The Xbox Series S specifically has faced some criticism over its relative lack of power compared to the Series X, but the parity clause is here to stay.
