"At first, it was being worked on by a small team as a title for Nintendo Switch," Miyazaki says in the interview. "However, just as the game started to take shape, we were approached by Nintendo with talk of Switch 2, which led us to revamp our development path with this new hardware in mind."

Miyazaki also mentions that the Switch 2's more robust online offerings allowed his team to "stay as true to the original vision as possible." The interview then goes on to talk about the setting of the game, the characters players will be using, and more about what The Duskbloods is all about.

The Nintendo Switch 2 launches June 5 for $449, with preorders available April 9 at select retailers. The Duskbloods, however, is scheduled to launch sometime in 2026.
